Philosophy of the Pillager Family Center

The Pillager Family Center Preschool is operated by the Pillager Family Center.

Our philosophy for our preschool program is that all children are entitled to the same quality of care, and that every child is an individual with individual needs.  Children need an environment that is relaxed, loving, positive and consistent.  Preschool staff will strive to provide all of the above to preschool participants.  Research indicates that during the first three years of live, 85% of the brain’s physiological development takes place.  Approximately 60% of a child’s cognitive skill, the ability to learn, is developed by age four.  We recognize the importance of early brain development and learning and strive to help your child develop to the best of their ability.  Each child will learn at age appropriate stages at their own pace.

The Preschool program is a non-profit Child Care Center licensed by the State of Minnesota and can serve twenty children per session.

Preschool class will provide a learning environment that will help the children develop socially, cognitively, physically, and emotionally according to their age and stage of development.

The Preschool teachers will provide a daily schedule with both indoor and outdoor activities, weather permitting.  The ways we plan to implement these goals are to:

  • Involve parents in education activities and planning for preschool and other Family Center activities.
  • Assist parents in increasing their knowledge and understanding of the growth and development of children.
  • Give parents opportunities to enhance their skills and experiences in teaching their own child.

All parents are required to provide a health summary and immunization schedules for each child participating in our Preschool program.  The Preschool program mandates that children be under supervision at all times.
