Science
Course Objectives:

1. Students will increase their knowledge of mattter and its interactions.

2. Students will increase their knowledge of motion and energy.

3. Students will increase their knowledge of electricity and magnetism.

4. Students will increase their knowlege of sound and light.

 

Social Studies Course Outline
Course Objectives:

  1. Students will increase their knowledge of the civilizations of the past, what accomplishments each is known for, and how their beliefs and values still impact our own society today.
  2. Students will learn about how climate and weather impact the lives of people, and how people adapt to the climate they live in.
  3. Students will also learn the methods used to gather information from the past.

  4. The Fertile Crescent
  5. Egypt
  6. Greece
  7. Rome
  8. The Middle Ages
  9. U.S. and Minnesota Government

Attendance

School policy will be followed regarding absences. Students will have the number of days absent plus one day to complete make-up work.

Tardiness interrupts the entire class and results in loss of instructional time for everyone. When the classroom door is closed after the bell rings anyone entering without a pass in tardy. The school handbook will be followed in regards to punishments.

Grading

Grades will be based on total accumulated points earned on quizzes, folders, daily assignments, tests, and projects.

Each student is responsible for his/her own work, and grades are based on the percentages in the handbook.

I graduated from Bemidji State University with majors in history and elementary education with a minor in sociology. I began my career as a substitute teacher in the elementary and was hired as a full time teacher in 1973.  I have been teaching at Pillager for the past 36 years with no end in sight.
